What is Nylon 66, and why is it the best material for self-locking cable ties?
Nylon 66 is a premium-grade engineering polymer that provides an optimal balance of high tensile strength, flexibility, and resistance to chemicals and abrasion. This makes it the industry-standard, most reliable material for durable and permanent general-purpose bundling and fastening.
Are these ties UV resistant for outdoor use?
Our standard natural nylon ties offer limited UV resistance. For long-term outdoor exposure, we highly recommend our UV-stabilized (UV Black) cable ties, which are specially formulated to resist sunlight degradation, weathering, and embrittlement.
What does the UL 94V-2 certification mean?
The UL 94V-2 rating certifies that the nylon material is self-extinguishing—it will stop burning within 30 seconds after being removed from a flame, and drips of flaming material are allowed. This is a standard safety certification for electrical and general-purpose applications.
Can I install these ties by hand, or do I need a tool?
Yes, they are designed for easy hand installation and tightening. For high-volume or production line use where consistent tension is critical, we recommend using a manual or pneumatic cable tie installation tool.
